Welcome to the no-holds-barred corner of watch collecting; where we can air our grievances about the wide world of absolute nonsense that seems to pervade all aspects of this hobby. There is just some really dumb, dumb shit that goes on in watch collecting circles. Let’s shine a light on it.
Here, we dive into the absurd aspects of watch collecting. This is purely a lifestyle blog, so don’t worry… you won’t find reference number rundowns, press release postings, or any sort of talk about the finer points of a silicone spring. Nobody on this site gives a shit about any of that.
There’s No Pretense…
We share our frustrations, opinions, and rants without the usual formalities of the watch industry. We buy, wear, and talk about $10 watches as often as we do $3k watches. And there’s a ceiling to this thing, because we are normal human people; so don’t expect platinum AP’s, we don’t care about those types of watches. This site is literally called “Beater” Time, so keep expectations low.

We pay for this site with our own money, and don’t run ads. This is a passion project, not a business venture. If we don’t like something about a watch, watch collectors, or the watch industry, there is nothing keeping us from saying so.
Nothing About Watches is Important At All
Everyone is different, and approaches watches from a different life view. Some collectors have money, some don’t. Some like vintage, some don’t. Some have a theme, some don’t. But, what is universal about all of us is that we have the capacity to recognize that watch collecting is not a serious endeavor. Its no more important than collecting Beanie Babies or TV Guide magazines. So don’t take it seriously, because we don’t.
